It’s a comedy, for sure, that is romantic. I’m obsessed with ’90s films, and so many of those rom-coms are incredible, but I don’t think there’s any recently that I’ve loved. I dunno if you call it a rom-com, but I love Clueless. It’s one of my favorite films. I also love 10 Things I Hate About You. Classic; that is a classic rom-com. I more mean like recent rom-coms—I wouldn’t these days think of them as, like, amazing cinema. [Laughs.]The costumes and production design are so colorful and vibrant, and from your commercials work, that seems to be your aesthetic. What were your inspirations for the look of the film?

I love color, and I love things feeling almost accidentally art directed. It sounds really pretentious, but I like things to be authentic but elevated. Cynthia Lawrence-John is a brilliant costume designer, and I really trust her. I definitely have a rule everyone knows: No black, no white. I only want color. [Laughs.] I’ve been known to paint walls. I hate white walls so much. The budget wasn’t huge on this Joe russo’s almost dead may 10 2023 salvage station asheville nc shirt moreover I will buy this film, so we weren’t able to paint everything, but next film hopefully I’ll have more money and I’ll be able to paint it all.
